The unborn is not you but the Soul, the Self is unborn eternal.+

Sage Sankara’s Brahman or God in truth is impersonal. Worshiping personal Gods is meant for the orthodox people who are ignorant and refuse to accept the truth.

Why you are saying I AM THAT when the Self is not you but the Soul is hidden by the ‘I’.
You are saying I AM THAT within the world in which you exist. The world in which you exist is the dualistic illusion or Maya. What is the use of saying I AM THAT within the dualistic illusion or Maya?
The dualistic illusion or Maya hides the Self. Realize the ‘Self’ is not you but the Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness.
The dualistic illusion or Maya is present in the form of the ‘I’. The ‘I’ appears and disappears. The ‘Self is not the ‘I’. The Soul, the ‘Self’ is always present is hidden by the ‘I’.
Remember:~
The Soul without the ‘I’ is God. God is hidden by ‘I’.
Remember, the ‘I’ is not an individual because the ‘I’ is the whole universe. Limiting the ‘I’ to individuality is the cause of experiencing the dualistic illusion of reality?
The nature of the ‘I’ is the nature of the mind.
The nature of the mind is the nature of the universe.
The nature of the universe is the nature of the waking.
The nature of waking is the nature of the illusion.
Thus, it is necessary to study the nature of the ‘I’ to unfold the mystery of the universe.
All the teachings limit the ‘I’ to an individual and glorify the ‘I’ without knowing what this ‘I’ supposed to be in actuality.
All ‘I-centric teachings are inadequate and useless for the serious seeker of truth.
If you are seeking truth nothing but the truth must discard without mercy such teaching in order to progress in your spiritual quest.
The seeker must know the ‘I’ is not limited to individuality. The seeker has to see the ‘I’ as the universe, in order to overcome ignorance. When the Advaitic wisdom dawns, then the ignorance vanishes.

When ignorance vanishes and the dualistic illusion (world) you used to think as reality becomes unreal.

The unborn is not you but the Soul, the Self is unborn eternal. The unborn Soul is hidden by the ‘I’.

Remember:~

You are unaware of the fact that you and your experience of birth, life, death, and the world are a reality within the dualistic illusion or Maya. The dualistic illusion or Maya is present in the form of the ‘I’.
Why you are saying I AM THAT when the Self is not you but the Soul is hidden by the ‘I’.
You are saying I AM THAT within the world in which you exist. The world in which you exist is the dualistic illusion or Maya.
No use in saying I AM THAT within the dualistic illusion or Maya.
In reality, there is no second thing that exists other than nondualistic awareness. nondualistic awareness is not ‘I’-awareness. ‘I’-awareness is not Self-awareness.
The Soul, the Self is nothing to do with the ‘I’, which is the dualistic illusion or Maya. What prevails without the dualistic illusion or Maya is the ultimate reality.
The ignorance appears and disappears as ‘I’. The ignorance is present in the form of the ‘I’. the ‘I’ is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality). :~Santthosh Kumaar

Brahman is merely a word to indicate the ultimate truth or God in truth. The ultimate truth itself is God in truth.+

Rig Veda: ~ 'Prajnanam Brahma'- Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.

Do not accept any other God other than the Soul. The Soul is God in truth,  Nothing is real but the Soul, which present in the form of consciousness. Nothing Matters but realize  God in truth. God in truth is everywhere and in everything. Let these words be inscribed in your subconscious.

God in truth is hidden by the illusory universe. God in truth alone is real and eternal and all else is an illusion.

Brahman is merely a word to indicate the ultimate truth or God in truth.  The ultimate truth itself is God in truth.

Remember:~

Consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth. God in truth is hidden by the ‘I’. God is without the form, time, space, and name. God is unborn eternal.

Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).
When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted as God other than consciousness.
The existence is Brahman or God in truth. The existence without the ‘I’ is the ultimate truth or Brahman. The existence can remain with or without the ‘I’.
God exists as the ultimate truth. Hence, in the path of wisdom do not use the word, God. It will be misunderstood. Thus, Brahman, which means the ultimate truth, is the right word. Just for the communication to indicate the ultimate truth, the word God is used for indicating the God in truth, which is Atman, the Brahman.
The Soul is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God. God is present in the form of consciousness. God is Self-evident. It is not established by extraneous proofs. It is not possible to deny God because God is the very essence of the one who denies God. God is the basis of all kinds of knowledge, presuppositions, and proofs.
God is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.
Sage Sankara’s Supreme Brahman (God) is impersonal, Nirguna (without Gunas or attributes), Nirakara (formless), Nirvisesha (without special characteristics), immutable, eternal, and Akarta (non-agent). God is above all needs and desires. God is always the Witnessing Subject. God can never become an object as God is beyond the reach of the senses. God is non-dual, one without a second. God has no other besides it. God is destitute of difference, either external or internal. God cannot be described because the description implies a distinction. God cannot be distinguished from any other than God. In God, there is not a distinction between substance and attribute. Sat-Chit-Ananda constituted the very essence or Svarupa of God, and not just God attributes. The Nirguna Brahman of Sage Sankara is impersonal. ~Santthosh Kumaar

If the I’ is an illusion then the individual experience of the birth, life, death is bound to be an illusion.+

Whether one is young or old death is the only thing that is certain within the dualistic illusion. When the Self is not the body then why you worry about what happens when the body becomes old.

When the ‘Self’ is not you but the Self is the Soul then whether the body remains young or old within the world is meaningless because the world in which you exist itself is the dualistic illusion created out of single clay. That single clay is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

The Soul is the innermost Self.  The Soul is the ever formless, timeless, and spaceless existence whereas birth, life, and death take place within the domain of form, time, and space.

On the standpoint of the Soul, the innermost Self the form, time, and space is merely an illusion.

The one, which is born lives, and dies in the illusory world, is bound to be illusory. Therefore, our experience of birth, life, death within the illusory world is bound to be an illusion.  Until you hold the ‘Self’ as ‘I’, the dualistic illusion prevails as a reality.

Bhagavad Gita: ~ “You must first see the ‘I’ as illusory before you see others as illusory. ~ CH.2 v.16
The ‘I’ hides the Soul. Therefore, the seeker has to realize ‘what is this ‘I’ supposed to be in actuality.
If the Self is not ‘I’ but the Self is the Soul then from the standpoint of the Soul, the  Self: ~

Where is the ‘I’?

Where is the ego?

Where is the body?

Where is the mind?

Where is the world in which you exist?

Where are the form, time, and space?

Where is the waking experience?

Where is the duality?

Where is void?

They are or have become one with the Soul which is present in the form of the consciousness. The consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman.
The ‘I’ is present only when the mind is present. The mind is present only when the world is present. The world is present only when there is the waking experience.
Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the waking experience is not considered different from the world. The world is not considered different from the mind. The mind is not considered different from the’ I’. This truth has to be assimilated.
The ‘I’ is merely an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. ‘I’ is not the subject. The ‘I’ is an object to the Soul, which is the formless, timeless, and spaceless subject.

If the ‘I’ is an illusion then the world in which you exist is bound to be an illusion.

If the ‘I’ is an illusion then three states, are bound to be an illusion.

If the ‘I’ is an illusion then the form, time, and space are bound to be an illusion.

If the I’ is an illusion then the individual experience of birth, life, death is bound to be an illusion.

If the ‘I’ is an illusion then the words and thoughts are bound to be an illusion.

If the ‘I’ is an illusion then the duality is bound to be an illusion.

The seeker has to make sure what is this ‘I’ supposed to be? The seeker has to make sure the unreal nature of the ‘I’ which comes and goes in order to realize the truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space.

That is why Bhagavad Gita: ~ The permanent is always there, only the transient ‘I’ comes and goes. (2.18)

The ‘I’ hides the Soul, which is God in truth.

People think the ‘I’ without the body is the Self. The seeker has to understand the fact that ‘I’ is not the Self, but the witness of the ‘I’ is the true Self, which is eternal.
That is why Ashtavakra Gita 16:10:~ If you desire liberation, but you still say "I," If you feel the ‘Self’ is the ‘I’, You are not a wise man or a seeker. You are simply a man who suffers.
People are stuck with the reality of the ‘I’, which they take 'I' as real because some Gurus have propagated the Self is the ‘I’. is no need to convince such a mindset. The seeker of truth accepts only the truth nothing but the truth.
That is why Sage Sankara says: - VC-65. As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never comes out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the Self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.
People refuse to accept anything other than their Gurus words. For them, their Gurus words are the ultimate truth. They do not accept anything else other than their accepted truth. There is no need to convince such a mindset.
Such a mindset is not fit to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. The seekers of truth accept only the truth nothing but the uncontradictable truth. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
