The truth seekers' main Goal is Self-realization. Self-realization is truth realization. Truth realization is God-realization. The seeker must realize the truth of his true existence. Thus, self-realization is very much necessary to unfold the mystery of the ‘I’. As one goes deeper into self-search, he becomes aware of the fact that the ‘Self’ is not the ‘I’ but the ‘Self’ is I-LESS ~ Soul or Atman. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. Even the Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).
